Well, at least there’s another game today.
Good morning everyone. It’s the first Mariners loss hangover of the season…oh how I missed these /s. Well, we’ve got some news to get to.
In Mariners news…
- The Tacoma Rainiers unveiled their 2025 Opening Day roster in advance of their first game of the season last night.
- Dan Wilson loved Randy Arozarena’s bat spike after the outfielder’s homer on Thursday night and what Wilson says it represented for the team.
- This is interesting info.
Mariners Opening Day attendance down about 6% from average last night.
In a quick look, home opener attendance *doesn’t* say anything about whether fans will attend later in the year or whether the team will be good.
(Brief: swingsandtakes.com/250328-openi…)
- The Mariners starting pitchers sure enjoyed themselves at Cal Raleigh’s extension press conference.
Around the league…
- The Diamondbacks have agreed to a five-year contract extension with young right-hander Brandon Pfaadt, which will buy out at least one year of his free agency.
- The Blue Jays have reportedly made a new contract offer to superstar Vlad Guerrero, Jr., though the two sides remain apart in negotiations.
- The aptly named Brewer Hicklen is now headed from Milwaukee to the Tigers after being DFA’d this week.
- Rays outfielder Josh Lowe is getting an MRI on his oblique injury.
- For all of you umpire complainers out there, Ump Scorecards has released a new website that features all of the umpire data you crave.
- Michael Rosen at Fangraphs breaks down the likely park factors for the new (temporary) Rays and A’s stadiums.
- Jorge Castillo at ESPN told the story of how the Rays prepared George M. Steinbrenner Field for MLB regular season action.
- Bobby Witt, Jr. wrote about his baseball journey and his love for Kansas City over at The Players’ Tribune.
- A bold strategy!
if Rays pitchers strike out 10 batters you can go to a furniture store and get a coupon to a taco restaurant
