Good day, and happy Wednesday! Here’s what you may have missed from another day of spring training.
In Mariners news…
- Brent Stecker wrote about his four biggest takeaways from the first few days of Mariners camp.
Around the league…
- In case you missed it, the Blue Jays failed to meet Vlad Guerrero, Jr.’s Monday night deadline to sign a contract extension. Vlad is now set to become the top free agent of the upcoming winter class.
- The Cubs have agreed to a one-year deal with first baseman Justin Turner.
- Former Mariners prospect and current Jays left-hander Adam Macko is likely headed for meniscus surgery. Macko, who was traded from Seattle to Toronto as part of the Teoscar Hernández trade, spent last season in Double-A and Triple-A.
- The Mets became the latest team to agree to a streaming rights deal that will allow local fans to watch games without a cable package.
- Michael Baumann at Fangraphs wonders if Mike Trout really can stave off the inevitable by moving to right field.
- Broadcaster Joe Buck is returning to the booth for Major League Baseball for the first time in five years.
Anders’ picks…
