‘Twas the night after Christmas…
Good morning friends, and Happy Holidays to all! As usual, it’s been a few quiet days as the baseball world settles down for the end of the year. But, we have a handful of news bits to get you caught up on.
In Mariners news…
- Brent Stecker admires the uniqueness of Cal Raleigh as a hitter.
- The courtship for Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim is coming to a close, with Kim needing to make a decision by January 3. The Mariners are one of three teams reported to be in the hunt for the second baseman.
Around the league…
- Utilityman Ehire Adrianza has decided to retire following a 12-year career.
- In a minor deal, the Red Sox acquired reliever Jovani Morán from the Twins.
- A recent column by Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic noted that the Marlins could be forced to add payroll this winter to avoid an MLBPA grievance, which would seemingly make them a fit for a Mariners salary dump trade. ($)
- John Foley at Pitcher List took a deep dive into the 2024 breakout season for A’s slugger Brent Rooker.
- This is insane!
