- With Japanese ace Roki Sasaki officially posted by the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball, Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto expressed a priority to pursue signing him.
- In terms of other trades during this year’s Winter Meetings, Dipoto said the team’s reluctance in trading from the starting rotation has resulted in fewer phone calls than normal from other teams.
