The MLB offseason just got a lot more interesting.
Hello friends and welcome to the three-day weekend! Let’s dig into the news from the baseball world.
In Mariners news…
- Cal Raleigh became the first-ever American League catcher to win the Platinum Glove, an honor given each year to the best of the Gold Glove winners.
- Shout out to all of the fans supporting Julio’s cause!
I absolutely love this:@Mariners fans donated sporting goods & so much more to @JRODshow44‘s No Limits Foundation to help kids in the Dominican Republic.
Julio loved the generosity of #Mariners fans
Of course we talked a little baseball too.

Around the league…
- It’s actually happening: The Chiba Lotte Marines are posting young right-handed phenom Roki Sasaki. The 23-year-old will be forced to go through the international amateur system similar to what Shohei Ohtani experienced when he came over, which will cap his earnings and open up the playing field for his services — though many expect the Dodgers to be heavy favorites to sign him.
- The Yankees are bringing back skipper Aaron Boone, picking up his option for the 2025 season.
- Angels shortstop Zach Neto is expected to miss the start of the 2025 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
- The Phillies have promoted Preston Mattingly (the son of Don) to the role of General Manager.
- Demetrius Bell ranked the possible destinations for outfielder Juan Soto. If you’re an M’s fan getting your hopes up, I’ll just save you the trouble right now: don’t.
