It’s Sunday, and if it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Links.
Price of the Juan Soto goin’ up.
ALCS Game 5…
- Early defense held the Yankees off the board while the Naylors got the Guardians a lead, but Giancarlo did the thing again, tying the game and ultimately sending it to extras, where Juan Soto put the hammer down. Yankees will face either the Dodgers or the Mets in the World Series.

In Mariners news…
- Andrés Muñoz and Cubs pitcher Javier Assad were opposing coaches for the 2024 VIP game in Mexico, which is really cool, but I’m helplessly distracted by the gorgeous art on those batting helmets.

Around the league…
- As of last night, there currently isn’t a dollar amount you can put in a Juan Soto contract hypothetical that is unreasonable, as long as that number is more than $650 million.
Juan Soto’s been to the playoffs three times in his career, and in those trips he’s taken the Nationals further than they’ve ever gone, the Padres further than they’d been in 24 years, and (barring a historic comeback) the Yankees further than they’ve been in 15 years https://t.co/kI3WywG6sb

- Dave Roberts is now absolutely begging someone to ask him about Shohei’s availability if they advance. Guarantee he already has that response armed and ready to fire at a moments notice.
Is Shohei Ohtani available to pitch in Games 6 and 7?
“He is not,” Dave Roberts said. “Thank you for asking.”

- Early indications are the the Colorado Rockies intend to reduce their payroll for the 2025 season, even after the removal of Charlie Blackmon’s $13 million contract. According to Patrick Saunders at The Denver Post, the Rockies intend to make some veterans available for trade this offseason, the most likely candidate is right-hander Cal Quantrill. The Rockies will be aiming to add an everyday position player and a reliever.
- I’m reasonably confident that at worst the Mets can find some middle ground here.
in case u were wondering tonight was the 4th time in mlb history a playoff game had a score of 12-6 pic.twitter.com/I7xkH7Raw5

- The Detroit Tigers hired a new farm director.
As first reported by Canadian Baseball Network, the Tigers are finalizing a deal to name Shane Farrell as farm director. The deal hasn’t been completed. Ryan Garko was promoted to assistant GM last year and Farrell would take over some of Garko’s former duties.

- That’s Kraken hockey baby! It’s early but the squids are hot! Hopefully they can stay hot so they can learn how to dogpile more effectively.
