Bringing you the latest news from the world of baseball.
Good morning everyone! We had a very quiet New Year’s Day around baseball, as most executives likely took the day off. Things may begin to ramp back up soon, but in the meantime, here’s what we’ve got for ya.
In Mariners news…
- With a number of Hall of Fame ballots already publicly shared, we know that Félix Hernández has officially secured enough votes to remain on the ballot for next year’s cycle. The lingering question for M’s fans is whether or not Ichiro will enter the Hall unanimously, as he has appeared on every publicly shared ballot so far.
Around the league…
- In a minor swap, the White Sox acquired left-hander Tyler Gilbert from the Phillies.
- The MLB.com prospect team outlined one potential breakout candidate for each farm system.
- Lenny Randle, known around these parts for blowing a baseball foul in 1981, reportedly died last weekend at the age of 75.
Anders’ picks…
- I quite literally do not think general audiences are ready for a movie adaptation of Children of Dune, especially without Denis Villeneuve around to iron out the weirdness of the story.
‘DUNE 4’ is reportedly in early development at WB.
Dennis Villeneuve is unlikely to return as director.
