Baseball is dead, let’s talk music
Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday. The 2024 MLB season is dead and buried. The New York Yankees and their fans are extra dead. Congrats on your new intrusive thought (the fifth inning of game five), Yanks fans. Before we move onto to the music, let’s take a look to see how smart y’all were in last week’s polls.
Welp, that was easy money.
Six games is for the real bet-hedgers, so the 34 bold people who chose five games win the prize here.
Freddie was the smart pick due to how flaming hot his bat already was, but obviously Ohtani was gonna be the favorite. Congrats to the Freddie voters.
All right! Today we’ll be continuing the age-old tradition of the LL Friday Open Music Thread! I’m going to drop three fairly recent new favorite songs of mine and then y’all do the same in the comments.
I don’t speak French, but this might be my new favorite band. For fans of power-pop, Alvvays, and 70’s/80’s new wave.
You might recognize this guy from his funny videos on IG/Tik Tok, but it turns out he also makes good indie rock. This song name drops Adam Dunn and gets me in my feelings, two things that usually have nothing to do with each other.
This band has had me in a chokehold since I came across their recent covers of two top-shelf Jimmy Eat World songs. Turns out they’re from England and they’ve been making delightful, jangly pop-punk tunes for 10 years now. This song is perfectly silly, romantic, and extremely catchy. Has a bit of an early Alkaline Trio feel to it, too.
