Jordan Eberle has been named only the second-ever captain in the history of the franchise from the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle Kraken named their captain today proudly, a player who has been there since their inception and original expansion draft in July of 2021. Eberle is a veteran of the NHL and has long established a work ethic worthy of a leadership role. Moreover, the previous only-ever captain of the Kraken was none other than former Toronto Maple Leaf, currently unsigned, Mark Giordano.

The Seattle Kraken Name Jordan Eberle Captain
Eberle has scored a combined total of 151 points in his three seasons with the Kraken. In those three seasons, he finished third twice and fourth last year in team scoring. He continues to be an exciting offensive player to watch. Also, at this point of his career, he brings excellent veteran leadership and reliability to a competitive lineup. He only once reached 30 goals in a season in his career. Furthermore, eight times he hit the 20-goal mark. His next goal in the NHL will be the 300th of his career. It seems that the fit for Eberle on the Kraken is a match that was meant to be.
What Could This Possibly Mean for Seattle
Eberle has an important role in the Seattle Kraken organization at this time. The team has a decent prospect pool that added the likes of Tij Iginla at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Young stars like Matty Beniers and Shane Wright are looking to hit their stride in 2024-25. In addition, Vince Dunn hopes to retain his form as one of the top level NHL defencemen with his club. Seattle are trying their best to balance developing their young players but also be competitive in the Western Conference wild card playoff race. It might a bit much to expect, but with a leader like Eberle, they’re in good hands.
