Welcome to the final Saturday of the NHL’s regular season! Yes, it is hard to believe the regular season is in it’s final weekend. Including Saturday, we have six more days of games before the journey to Lord Stanley begins for sixteen teams. On that note, welcome to NHL Predictions, where today, we are looking at an important game between the St. Louis Blues and the Seattle Kraken.
NHL Predictions
St. Louis Blues vs. Seattle Kraken
Time: 10:00 P.M. EST
TV: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, Kraken Hockey Network, KONG
Season Series: Blues Lead 2-0
The Blues and Kraken meet for the final time this season. The two teams to open the season back in October, with the Blues winning 3-2. In February, the two teams met again in St. Louis, with the Blues again winning, 7-2.
The Blue Note will look for a second-straight season sweep of the Kraken. Furthermore, the Blues have not lost to the Kraken in over two years and are 9-2 against the young franchise. However, four of the last five meetings have been decided by just one goal. We may be in for a close on Saturday night in Seattle.
Despite Losses, the Blues Control Their Fate
Following a franchise-record 12-game winning streak, the Blues have lost two games in a row in frustrating fashion. On Monday, the team recorded only 15 shots in a 2-1 loss. On Wednesday, the Blues lost at least one point when they allowed the Edmonton Oilers to score with less than 20 seconds left in regulation to break a 3-3 tie. Furthermore, the Blues may have been a victim of a no call seconds before the goal. We will let you watch and decide for yourself.

Despite a rough two games, the Blues still control their destiny. They have two games left, including Saturday. The Blues need just three points in those two games to clinch a playoff spot. A win of any kind and getting to overtime in the other would do the trick for the Blues. In fact, the Blues could enter Saturday’s game with the opportunity to clinch, depending on the outcome of Friday’s Calgary Flames game.
Kraken Close Season at Home
The Kraken will conclude their season with two games in front of their home fans before they officially look ahead to 2025-26. The team sits near the bottom of the standings, a clear indicator of an unsuccessful season.
However, the Kraken will be an interesting team to keep an eye on this summer. The team only has two unrestricted free agents, which means there is not much concern regarding losing players to free agency. However, the Kraken only have just under $2 million in cap space. They will also gain a little over $2.5 million with Yanni Gourde’s retained contract coming off the books. The Kraken may be a team that looks to trade pieces this summer to try to create more money to spend money. We know they are not afraid to open the wallet, especially after signing Brandon Montour last summer. Just two games separate the Kraken from what could be an interesting off-season.
Prediction
Saturday’s game is as close to a must-win as the Blues can get without actually needing to win. When big games arise, the Blues turn to someone who has won the big game before. That is right. We are talking about goaltender Jordan Binnington. In 2019, Binnington performed on the big stage in Game 7 as the Blues won the Stanley Cup. Binnington performed on the big stage against this year for Team Canada during the 4 Nations Face-Off. Despite the doubters, Binnington propelled Canada to the championship.
If the Blues give the nod to Binnington, and they should, we think he and the Blues emerge victorious.
Blues win, 4-1.
Prop Bets
The over/under is set at 5.5 goals. We are taking just under with five goals.
For prop bets, we are picking Blues captain Brayden Schenn as anytime-scorer. For the Kraken, we are choosing former Blue and current team leader in goals, Jaden Schwartz, as an anytime-scorer.
