Need a first down? Call on No. 16 of the Seattle Seahawks.
Could this be the final season we see Tyler Lockett in a Seattle Seahawks uniform? I’d rather now think about that right now. Instead, I want to highlight the play he made to secure victory against the Denver Broncos.
Faced with 3rd and 6 with less than two minutes to go, Seattle could’ve played it safe and run the ball to make the Broncos use their final timeout. Nope. Ryan Grubb dialed up a crossing route to Lockett, and Geno Smith found him. A remarkable one-handed catch in full stride was the dagger through the heart of the Broncos. We’d expect nothing less from one of the greatest Seahawks of all time.

On a day when the Seahawks passing game was generally limited, largely due to a struggling offensive line, Lockett led all Seahawks receivers with 6 catches for 77 yards. He’s a model of consistency, he’s been everything from a deep threat to a security blanket for Russell Wilson and now Geno Smith, and it’s why he got the “closer game ball” for the day.
From the locker room:
Tyler Lockett got the #Seahawks’ new “closer game ball” for his late catch that clinched the win on 3rd down. He says he appreciates Mike Macdonald’s new culture, and he congratulates his coach on his first win. MM says gotta have closers to win in NFL. pic.twitter.com/fnDlfGdImR
