It was an emotional goodbye for Pete Carroll on Wednesday as he spoke to the media during his exit press conference.
For the first time in nearly 15 years, Carroll will not be on the sideline as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks as he transitions to an advisory role.
Carroll reportedly could barely keep it together as he thanked his wife, Glena, whom he called “the angel of my life.”

Fans reacted to the coach’s tears on Twitter.
“how dare they do this to him,” a user said.
“This is beautiful,” another replied. “Being the spouse or child of a coach is extremely difficult at times. Coach Carroll has been coaching since 1973 and married to Mrs. Glena since 1976. She’s been with him through it all. S/O to all the spouses of coaches out there.”

A legendary run in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully this isn’t the last time we see him with a headset on.
