Are you ready for a weekly blast from the Seahawks teams of the past?
This will be a weekly article series throughout the season looking back on what happened for the Seattle Seahawks 40, 30, 20, and 10 years ago this week.
Again, we’ve got some good games to go over this week including another iconic moment in Seahawks history courtesy of the 2014 squad. That more than makes up for the 2004 debacle!

On paper, this was a mismatch but as you can see the game was actually a lot more competitive than the final score would indicate…at least it was in the 1st Half!
Steve Largent put Seattle on the scoreboard first, catching a 3-yard TD Pass from Dave Krieg to give the Seahawks the 7-0 lead. Detroit pulled within 7-3 on a 45-yard FG from Eddie Murray. The Lions then took the lead at 10-7 in the 2nd Quarter on a 25-yard rushing TD by Ken Jenkins. Seattle went ahead 14-10 on another Krieg to Largent TD connection from 13 yards away. The back and forth battle continued as the Lions took the 17-14 lead on a 15-yard TD pass from Gary Danielson to James Jones. Dave Krieg threw a 4-yard TD pass before halftime to put Seattle up again at 21-14.
Whew, let’s take a breath.
After a frantic first half, nobody scored in the 3rd Quarter. I guess Seattle was saving it all for the final frame as they scored 17 points in the 4th Quarter! First up was Dave Krieg’s 51-yard TD pass to Daryl Turner. Next was a 36-yard FG by Norm Johnson. Finally, Krieg threw his 5th TD pass of the game, a 5-yarder to Mike Tice as the Seahawks cruised to a 38-17 win.
Dave Krieg was 27/38 for 294 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT. David Hughes had 7 carries for 46 yards. Steve Largent had 8 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD.
Kenny Easley and Terry Jackson had 1 INT each. Jeff Bryant had a great game with 3.0 sacks! Randy Edwards and Dino Mangiero also had 1.0 sack a piece.

Wow, two wins in a row for the 1994 Seahawks. And over a division rival in the Kansas City Chiefs to boot!
It wasn’t a very exciting game up until the 4th Quarter. The only scoring of the 1st half came via the foot of Chiefs kicker Lin Elliott who had FGs of 32 and 23 yards. Seattle took the 7-6 lead in the 4th Quarter on a 2-yard rushing TD by Steve Smith. Lin Elliott put the Chiefs back ahead at 9-7 with a 38-yard FG. Both teams kept trading punts until the Seahawks got the ball back with just under two minutes left. After a few plays, John Kasay nailed a 32-yard FG to put Seattle back ahead 10-9. KC tried to make a comeback but Lake Dawson fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Robert Blackmon. Rick Mirer entered victory formation for a rare win in 1994.
Rick Mirer was 15/31 for 195 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. Chris Warren had 22 carries for 53 yards. Brian Blades had a very good game with 7 catches for 141 yards.
Michael Sinclair had 1.0 sack. Robert Blackmon recovered two fumbles.
One interesting note in this game is that Chiefs QB Joe Montana became the 5th QB in NFL history to eclipse 40,000 passing yards. Good for him!

Oof, this is an ugly loss against the Buffalo Bills. What a bunch of (Mike) Mularkey!
Buffalo started their scoring binge with a 2-yard rushing TD by Willis McGahee to go ahead 7-0. Get used to seeing that name by the way. Former Seahawks Legend Rian Lindell kicked a 25-yard FG to put the Bills up 10-0. Seattle cut into that deficit with a 19-yard Josh Brown FG to make the score 10-3. Buffalo scored with 6 seconds remaining in the 2nd Quarter when Drew Bledsoe threw a 3-yard TD pass to Lee Evans to send the Seahawks into the locker rooms down 17-3.
Then came the Willis McGahee show.
He scored the next 3 TDs, all of them on the ground from 2 yards, 30 yards, and 1 yard respectively. Buffalo was now up 38-3. Seattle scored a meaningless TD on an 8-yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Bobby Engram to make the score 38-9. The 2-point conversion failed and that’s where the score stayed in an embarrassing home loss for Seattle.
Matt Hasselbeck was 19/38 for 185 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Shaun Alexander had 13 carries for 39 yards. Darrell jackson had 4 catches for 45 yards to lead the Seahawks.
Seattle picked off Bledsoe 3 times and still somehow managed to get boat raced. Ken Hamlin had 2 INTs and Ken Lucas had 1 INT. Antonio Cochran had 1.0 sack.

A Turkey Day matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers in 2014? Why does that ring a bell?
Throwing it back to Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman eating the Turkey Legs after a #Seahawks Thanksgiving Day win for the 49ers back in 2014!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Really, aside from that iconic ending it was the usual “grind it out” game we’d come to expect when facing Jim Harbaugh’s Niners. The first (and only) TD of the contest came on a 13-yard pass from Russell Wilson to Robert Turbin as Seattle took the 7-0 lead. Stephen Hauschka added 21 and 36-yard FGs in the 2nd Quarter to put the Seahawks up 13-0 at halftime.
Steven Hauschka, aka ‘Hausch Money’ was at it again in the 3rd Quarter with a 35-yard FG to extend Seattle’s lead to 16-0. San Francisco broke their slump near the end of the 3rd Quarter with a 40-yard FG by Phil Dawson. Hauschka added a 46-yard FG for good measure in the 4th Quarter as the Seahawks smothered the Niners 19-3.
Then, Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman ate turkey on the 49ers logo at midfield!
Maybe only interesting to me is the fact that this was the 2nd consecutive 19-3 win for the Seahawks. Russell Wilson was 15/22 for 236 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT. Marshawn Lynch had 20 carries for 104 yards. If you would’ve given me $1 million to name the Seahawks leading receiver, I would have stayed poor since it was Tony Moeaki who had 1 catch for 63 yards.
Seattle’s defense held the 49ers to just 164 total yards. Richard Sherman had 2 INTs and 1 turkey leg! K.J. Wright, Michael Bennett, Bruce Irvin, and Cliff Avril all had 1.0 sack in the dominant defensive performance.
