The Seattle Seahawks are releasing several rookie players from their roster this week as we get closer and closer to the start of training camps. Though one experienced veteran will be taking their place.
On Monday, the Seahawks announced the release of cornerback Ro Torrence, defensive end Rason Williams and running back TaMerik Williams. All three joined the team as undrafted free agents following the 2024 NFL Draft.
In a corresponding move, the Seahawks have signed running back Ricky Person to the roster. Person had 297 rushing yards and a league-leading six rushing touchdowns for the Birmingham Stallions this past season.
Torrence was of the top defenders at Arizona State last year, recording 37 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and one interception in 2023. The year before, he logged eight pass breakups and 36 tackles.
Rason Williams had 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games for Louisiana Tech last season.
TaMerik Williams had 767 rushing yards for North Dakota State as the Bison reached the FCS national semifinals.
The Seahawks are heading into a new era with Mike MacDonald at the helm after being led by Pete Carroll for over a decade. They have no shortage of talent on both sides of the ball, having sent six players to the Pro Bowl last year.
Will any of the players the Seahawks cut wind up making it onto other rosters?
