Go Lions!
The Detroit Lions ended the Los Angeles Rams’ season (and Aaron Donald’s incredible career) in last season’s NFL playoffs. They meet again in the first Sunday Night Football game of the year.
After a spirited run to the NFC Championship, Detroit is poised to contend once again and the fanbase is dreaming of a Super Bowl run. These are words that previously would’ve gotten you laughed at over the past couple of decades.
Meanwhile, the Rams will have life without Donald but life with former Seattle Seahawks tight end Colby Parkinson. On a day when several former Seahawks have had highlight-reel moments and performances, maybe Parkinson can make the most of his Rams debut.
The Lions are 4.5-point favorites with an over/under of 54.5 points according to our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook. I think Detroit’s offense will be too much for the Rams defense to handle, but it’ll be a high-scoring game and should be one of the more entertaining matchups of Week 1.
Of course, if the Rams lose tonight and the San Francisco 49ers drop the Monday game against the New York Jets, then Seattle will be all alone in first place.
NBC and Peacock have the broadcast at 5:20 pm PT!
