Right off the bat, the relative lack of depth for the OL really stands out. The oddsmakers at FanDuel agree as they’ve placed the odds of an offensive lineman being the first position drafted by the Seahawks at (-120). Seattle didn’t add much of note on the OL, with its two free agent additions being depth pieces. They’re banking on the development of their younger players and (probably) adding to those positions during the draft. Is there another first-round OL in the cards for John Schneider this year? Kelvin Banks Jr (+175 to be drafted in Top 10) and Tyler Booker (-750 to be drafted in First Round) are both options.
The other highlighted odds for offensive players being drafted first are a WR at (+390) or a TE at (+550). This makes sense given the exodus of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the offseason. Cooper Kupp was added to take some pressure off JSN but the pass catchers could still use a shot in the arm. Since this is a very strong TE class, don’t rule out the possibility of a high-end addition to that room to pick up the slack. Tyler Warren (-190 to be drafted in Top 10) might not make it to No. 18, but Tetairoa McMillan (+260) and Colston Loveland (+380) could last that long if their odds to be drafted in the top 10 are accurate.

On the surface, Seattle seems to be in a good position across the defense, where Mike Macdonald’s crew made big strides the second half of last year. FanDuel agrees, as the odds of the first Seahawks player drafted coming on defense are all lower than the offensive positions listed above. Defensive Line/EDGE comes in at (+900), Safety is (+950), and Linebacker brings up the rear with (+1800).
I don’t necessarily agree with this, as I think it’s entirely possible that the best player available at No. 18 is a defensive player – and is it really that bad to further improve the strength of the team? Look at how the Philadelphia Eagles have stockpiled defensive lineman over the years…that worked out pretty well for them!
A few defensive players that have been linked to the Seahawks at No. 18 are Shemar Stewart (+600 to be drafted in Top 10), Kenneth Grant (-390 to be drafted in First Round), and Nick Emmanwori (-1350 to be drafted in First Round).
Special Teams
- Michael Dickson
- Jason Myers
- Chris Stoll
These seem pretty set in stone, so I wouldn’t expect any additions here via the draft.
