The Seahawks were completely left off of the All-Pro first- and second-team.
The Associated Press has submitted its NFL All-Pro first- and second-teams for the 2024 season, and there is not a single Seattle Seahawks player to be found.
In fairness, there weren’t many viable candidates to begin with, but the obvious choice was defensive lineman Leonard Williams, who led all interior defensive players with 11 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Those gaudy numbers were not enough to make the Pro Bowl or either All-Pro spot. He was beaten out by Zach Allen, Jalen Carter, Cam Heyward, and Chris Jones. One hell of a quartet, but was Williams punished because the Seahawks missed the playoffs?
While Williams did receive eight first-place votes, his overall point total from AP voters was seven behind the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Carter for the All-Pro second-team selection.
Williams, cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and punter Michael Dickson all received first-place votes but not enough to land on an All-Pro team. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and safety Julian Love each received a solitary second-team vote.
To summarize: Leonard Williams had a dominant season and was among the league leaders in sacks, tackles for loss, quarterback hits, and he even had a record-setting pick-six for good measure. Williams will end his first full season with the Seahawks with… an NFC Defensive Player of the Month award?
Have a gander and see if you disagree with anything else.
