Eric Saubert has been everywhere around the NFL. Now he’s a Seattle Seahawk.
The Seattle Seahawks have brought in a blocking tight end who’s headed for his 11th NFL team.
Eric Saubert has agreed to a contract with Seattle after one season with the San Francisco 49ers. The team announced the arrival of Saubert on Monday.
Saubert was a fifth-round pick from Drake University back in 2017, spending two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Throughout his career he’s been predominantly a blocking tight end with occasional targets coming his way. If you want a real fun fact, one of Saubert’s three career touchdowns was thrown to him by Russell Wilson back when they were Denver Broncos in 2022. Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and run game specialist Justin Outten were on Denver’s coaching staff at the time.

He also caught a touchdown with the 49ers last season from Brock Purdy.

To date, the 30-year-old Saubert has 47 catches for 389 yards and 3 touchdowns, so you know exactly what he’s been brought to Seattle for. He also plays a lot on special teams.
With Pharaoh Brown departing for the Miami Dolphins, Saubert figures to be (for now) at the bottom-end of the depth chart behind Noah Fant and A.J. Barner. His nomadic career also means it’s hardly a guarantee that he even makes the 53-man roster, but for now let’s assume he’s here to stay and provide some help as a blocker in Kubiak’s 12 and 13 personnel formations.
