Jarran Reed clears the air on Derick Hall fracas.
Seattle Seahawks 2016 second-round pick, defensive tackle Jarran Reed, shuffled out onto the podium on Wednesday – in sandals and wrapped in a towel – to address the media. The number one thing reporters asked him about was his manhandling of second-year linebacker Derick Hall on the sidelines against the Bills on Sunday. What happened there?
Here’s what pissed him off. A late QB hit on Josh Allen by Hall at the end of the 2nd quarter.

As you can see, Hall was quite late. And some might say he targeted Allen’s head. Jarran Reed let him hear about it on the field, pressing facemask to facemask and pointing into Hall’s face. Big guy, Dion Dawkins from the Bills, even got between them and tried to break it up.
Two plays later, the Bills turned a drive-extending penalty into a touchdown.
The skirmish continued onto the sideline, where there some pushing and shoving ensued before ultimately being broken up by players and staff. Here’s what Reed had to say about it on Wednesday:
“For one, emotions are in football, right?” Reed said. “But, we’ve talked about what Josh Allen could do all week with the flopping and everything. It was a bonehead play, but I just wanted to let him know that we can’t do that at that time. That was a critical play, a critical time in the game. When you do stuff like that, it leads to explosives. That’s what we’re trying to eliminate. That’s all we were talking about. All the other extracurricular activities that went on, that’s just being two guys who care about football.
“[Derick Hall] is my guy. He’s one of my friends on this team. Our parents are cool, we’re still cool, there’s no love lost. It just happens. We talked about it right afterward and like we’re just two alpha males. Everybody out there is an alpha male and it happens. You’ve got to move on to keep playing. That’s what we did.”
Whether you love to see it or not, football is an emotional game, and I’m glad these guys care and hold each other responsible.
“He’s very much mad at himself about it, and I understood that.” Reed continued. “Once again, that’s why I went back and talked when we had a calmer manner.”
I think Bruce Irvin said it best:
Shit use to happen all the time back in the day! Especially at the Vmac! That’s normal! ♂️ https://t.co/Jj4gIlOuSW
