Catch the standout statistics of the Seahawks 23-20 victory over the Patriots.
By the Numbers is back!
Can’t believe I forgot it last week, but here we go for another season of recapping each game with some of the standout numbers. The Seattle Seahawks are off to a stellar start after beating the New England Patriots. See what stood out this week.
1st – place in the NFC West. Let’s get it.
1st – time in history a Seahawks rookie Head Coach has started 2-0. Mike’s gettin’ it.
75% – Completion rate on the season for Geno Smith. That’s third in the NFL behind Gardner Minshew and Kyler Murray.
QB COMPLETION % THROUGH WEEK 2:
Gardner Minshew – 77.5???
Geno Smith – 73.9
Josh Allen – 73.8
Mayfield – 73.5
Purdy – 72.3
Sam Darnold – 72
Mahomes – 71.7
Stafford – 69.7
C.J. Stroud – 68.7 (big drop from SNF)
Lamar – 62.7
Jared Goff – 62.7
…
Aaron Rodgers 60.8— Tyler (@TylerjAlsin) September 16, 2024
9 – QB Hits through two games for Leonard Williams. I checked on just a couple guys; Maxx Crosby has 5, Nick Bosa has 4. Dude’s been a monster.
2.3 – Yards per Carry for Zach Charbonnet. Once again, the offensive line is not providing a lot of help, but Kenneth Walker was able to go 5.2 YPC in Week 1. Not a great start for Charbo.
That being said, 0 – carries for Kenny McIntosh or George Holani. Not in this game, not on the season. I dunno.
Also 0 – missed kicks for Jason Myers this week and this season. Booyah.
30 to 8 – target share for DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba vs. the rest of the receivers. That’s quite a game plan.
6 – Accepted denalties in each game thus far. That was more than the Patriots; fewer than the Broncos. If nothing else Seattle seems to be on a more middle-of-the-pack trajectory for penalties instead of near the tippy top.
5 – Team tackles for loss, each registered by a different player. Add in Derick Hall’s QB hit, and that’s six different players making impact behind the line of scrimmage. It takes more than two or three run stuffers to have a run defense, and it seems like we have that.
More than that, 48.5% – dropbacks that were pressured by Seattle. It also takes more than two or three pass rushers to have a pass rush, and they lead the league in pressure rate at the moment.
Week 3 coming up and back home for the suddenly scrambling Miami Dolphins.
