The Seattle Seahawks are coming hot off a win against the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale to continue their four-game win streak. They are 8-5 and currently sit one game ahead at the top of the NFC West division. First-year head coach Mike Macdonald has done a great job at turning his team around and setting them on the right track. However, the Seahawks have four games remaining and three of those will be against tough opponents. Let’s take a look at Seattle’s best and worst scenarios remaining.
Seahawks Best and Worst Scenarios Remaining for the Season
The Seahawks Remaining Schedule:
- Week 15 vs. Packers
- Week 16 vs. Vikings
- Week 17 at Bears
- Week 18 at Rams
The Seahawks will face two teams from the best division in football in back-to-back weeks against the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Fortunately, Seattle gets home-field advantage against both, but the tasks at hand still won’t be easy.
While the Packers (9-4) lost to the Lions on Thursday Night Football, they remain the sixth seed. Ironically, they would go up against the Seahawks in the wild-card round of the playoffs. The key to Green Bay’s success has been Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs who has rushed for 1,053 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranks fifth in the league with 144.7 rushing yards per game. The Seahawks’ run defense has significantly improved throughout the season but Jacobs will be a formidable challenge for them.
As for the Vikings, they play the Lions in Week 18 in what will be their final chance to take the division. They have been performing well under quarterback Sam Darnold this season who has thrown for 3,299 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He threw five touchdowns last week to lead Minnesota to win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings also happen to rank eighth in pass yards per game. The Seahawks are third, with the Packers 11th and the Rams at ninth.
The matchup against the Bears may seem easy, but the Seahawks have dropped the last two games against Chicago. It’s tough to see that happening again, but they can’t take this game lightly. The Bears are still looking to prove themselves under interim head coach Thomas Brown.
Seattle will finish the season in Los Angeles against the Rams. The Rams are only one game behind Seattle for the division and still have yet to face the 49ers and Cardinals for their second go at both. Los Angeles should be the favorite in both of those games but it’s good to never underestimate the power of NFC West divisional matchups.

Best-Case Scenario for Seahawks: 10-7
Technically, the Seahawks could achieve a best possible record of 12-5, but that will be difficult to accomplish. At best I see them winning two more games for sure, likely against the Bears and Rams. This doesn’t mean the Seahawks don’t have a chance to beat the Packers or Vikings, but they will certainly be harder to beat.
Worst-Case for Seahawks: 9-8
If the Seahawks adopt old practices, they could lose out with a potential loss to Chicago. However, that seems extremely unlikely and in the absolute worst case, they only one more game, which will be against the Bears. No matter what, the Seahawks currently hold a 66% chance to make the playoffs and a 62% chance to win the division.
