It’s the Senior Bowl. Did you think the Seahawks would not have some sort of presence?
Next week marks the start of the Senior Bowl, the annual showcase of the top college football seniors (and now non-graduate underclassmen, but the name remains unchanged!). The Seattle Seahawks have long held a great interest in Senior Bowl prospects, leaning into that more last season than in any other season with John Schneider as general manager.
The Senior Bowl announced the rosters for the National and American teams, as well as the coaching staffs. Seahawks assistant wide receivers coach Tyson Prince has the honors of coaching the National Team receivers, including some very notable names:
- Pat Bryant, Illinois
- Da’Quan Felton, Virginia Tech
- Jayden Higgins, Iowa State
- Tez Johnson, Oregon
- Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech
- Jaylin Noel, Iowa State
- Xavier Restrepo, Miami
- Kyle Williams, Washington State
Local college football fans in the Pacific Northwest will be very familiar with Oregon’s Tez Johnson and Washington State’s Kyle Williams. Johnson caught 169 passes for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Ducks. Williams had a breakout senior season with 70 catches for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Cougars.
Perhaps the most prominent receiver from this octet is Miami’s Xavier Restrepo, who’s the all-time receptions (200) and receiving yards (2,844) leader for the Hurricanes. Restrepo emerged as one of the better WRs in college football over his last two seasons, posting a career-best 1,127 yards in 2024 with Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward at quarterback.
Senior Bowl week begins with practice on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and concludes with the game on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 am PT from Mobile, Alabama.
