Brown’s return to the Pacific Northwest was brief. Now it’s time to head to the other side of the country.
Unsurprisingly, the Seattle Seahawks’ theme of not re-signing any of their 2024 free agents continues.
Tight end Pharaoh Brown’s first season in Seattle was also his last. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the former Oregon player will be heading to the Miami Dolphins. Terms of the deal haven’t yet been disclosed but it’s most likely a one-year contract.
Brown was brought in to be an in-line blocking tight end who could occasionally receive passes. He caught 8 passes for 65 yards and no touchdowns on 12 targets, losing a fumble on a designed screen pass against the Chicago Bears. Beyond his minimal contributions as a pass-catcher, he also committed five penalties combined between offense and special teams. His four holding penalties were the most among all tight ends.
This is a return to familiar NFL division territory for Brown, who spent the 2023 season with the New England Patriots (committing zero penalties, by the way). With Jonnu Smith establishing himself as the primary tight end, Brown should continue his role as a reserve, in-line option in Miami.
Unless Johnathan Hankins or K’Von Wallace re-up with the Seahawks soon, the entire outside free agent class of 2024 for Seattle will not be on the 2025 squad.
