A crucial win over the 49ers has given Seahawks fans a lot of hope for the rest of the season.
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.
The Seattle Seahawks surprised a lot of people last week, pulling off a 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium with less than a minute in regulation. This win snapped the Seahawks’ six-game losing streak against the 49ers, which extended back to Week 2 of the 2022 season.
Now, Seattle heads home to Lumen Field at 5-5 with rejuvenated postseason hopes. The next challenger is the Arizona Cardinals, who currently sit atop the NFC West division at 6-4. A win versus the Cardinals would put the Seahawks at 6-5, giving them a chance to take the division lead in December.
With this in mind, Seattle fans are surely feeling confident knowing that their team still has a shot at the playoffs.
Following last week’s win, the latest poll shows that the fans’ confidence level has risen to 79%, up 32% from the previous week. Needless to say, “No Win November” has been cancelled.
Between the road win in Santa Clara and the Seahawks’ recent history versus Arizona, there is plenty of reason to be hopeful about Seattle’s chances for a win on Sunday. Although the Cardinals are the betting favorite, the Seahawks have won six of their last seven contests against Arizona, including each of the teams’ last five matchups.
The poll reflects the current win streak, as 75% picked Seattle to win on Sunday. It is not likely to be an easy win, though, seeing as 82% believe that whoever comes out on top will win by one score.
Considering how each team has done so far, this should not come as much of a surprise. Both teams are on similar levels offensively, as the Cardinals have scored 238 points over their first 10 games, just eight more than the Seahawks.
Arizona has the edge on defense, however. The Cardinals’ defense is 11th in points allowed, surrendering 220 points so far this year. For comparison, Seattle’s defense has given up 238 points, good for 16th in the league.
The latest peak on this roller coaster ride of a season has the Seahawks just one game out of first place near the end of November. A total of 52% picked Seattle to win the NFC West, with 32% saying that Arizona will maintain its lead.
If the Seahawks want to contend for the division this year, this next handful of games will be vital to their postseason ambitions. After Sunday’s home contest against the Cardinals, Seattle will travel to MetLife Stadium to face the lowly New York Jets in Week 13. Then, the Seahawks will head to Glendale for their second matchup vs. the current division leaders. Depending on how things play out over the next few weeks, Seattle may be able to unseat Arizona for the NFC West crown.
These next several contests will be intriguing to say the least. A victory on Sunday would provide a tremendous boost for the Seahawks’ playoff hopes, bringing hope to a team that was seemingly treading water not too long ago.
Buckle up, because the playoff race is about to begin.
