Fans hopes for the playoffs is dwindling.
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.
It is Week 10 of the NFL season, and the Seattle Seahawks are 4-5 as they enter their bye week. It has been an up and down season for Seattle. The Seahawks and rookie head coach Mike Macdonald started the year 3-0 with wins over the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins. However, that hot start came to a quick fizzle with the Seahawks losing five out of their next six games. The only win in that 1-5 stretch was an impressive victory over the now-NFC South leading Atlanta Falcons. That impressive victory however was followed up by two more losses, just emphasizing how up and down this 2024 season has been for Seattle.
So, what do 12s feel about the 2024 season so far? With Coach Macdonald being in his first year, expectations could have been pretty low. However, the Seahawks barely missed out on the 2023 playoffs, and with a new defensive guru, many expectations for the Seahawks were to at least make the playoffs in 2024. With these high expectations for Seattle, it is not surprising that with a 4-5 record, only 41% of Seahawks fans are confident the team is heading in the right direction. Additionally, 55% of Seahawks fans expected Seattle to have more than four wins, nine weeks into the season.
With Seattle only having played two division games, they still have four more to go. One game left against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, along with two games against the Arizona Cardinals. Non-divisional games that remain don’t look like a cake walk either. Seattle also is set to face the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears in the second half of the season. When asked, how they think the Seahawks will fare the rest of the 2024 season, 58% of Seahawks fans think that Seattle will finish the regular season with at least 10 losses.
For those 58% of fans to be correct, Seattle would have to finish 3-5 or worse. To look more optimistically, if Seattle were to want to challenge for the playoffs, they likely may need to have at least 10 wins. To accomplish that, the Seahawks would need to win at least six out of their last eight games, going 6-2. Time will tell if Seattle can turn this around and right the ship.
