The Seattle Seahawks are now a game out of first place in the division with two games left to play in the regular season.
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.
As we enter the homestretch of the 2024 regular season, the final playoff picture is beginning to take shape. The Seattle Seahawks (8-7) sit one game behind the Los Angeles Rams (9-6) in the NFC West with two games remaining, needing to win both games in order to reach the playoffs. The first of those two games will be played tonight on Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears (4-11).
Seattle is looking for two big road wins to end the year, having lost their last two at home against the Packers (11-4) and Vikings (13-2). If the Seahawks want to reach the playoffs in Mike Macdonald’s first season, they will need to pick themselves up and ride back into battle for the last two games of the year.
In response to Seattle’s losses against Green Bay and Minnesota, fan confidence has now fallen to 56%, down 22% from the week before.
Tonight’s game against the Bears will be at Chicago’s Soldier Field, where the Seahawks’ slim playoff hopes will hang in the balance. Seattle has not played at Soldier Field since Week 2 of the 2018 season, and they have not won in Chicago since Week 13 of the 2012 season.
During his time as the Seahawks’ head coach, Pete Carroll was 4-3 vs. the Bears overall, including a loss in the 2010 divisional playoffs. Macdonald has a chance to deliver tonight against the Monsters of the Midway; a win would keep Seattle within striking distance of the Rams, who will host the Seahawks in the regular season finale in Week 18.
More importantly, the Seahawks will need the Cardinals (7-8) to beat Los Angeles on Saturday. If just that game goes Seattle’s way, then the NFC West title will be at stake next week regardless of how TNF goes for the Seahawks.
You can watch tonight’s Thursday Night Football game on Amazon Prime Video or Twitch at 5:15 PM PST.
