The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly adding to their wide receiver and kick return rooms with the signing of a former Jacksonville Jaguars standout.
Per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the ‘Hawks have come to terms on a contract with 2020 second-round pick Laviska Shenault Jr. The deal is expected to be for one year in the ballpark of the vet minimum.
Shenault spent the last two seasons in Carolina where he appeared in 21 games (four starts).
In that time he was never able to match the production of his first couple seasons with the Jags where he put up 1,219 receiving yards and five touchdowns and was also utilized in the ground game under Doug Marrone and Urban Meyer.
Shenault appeared to be a nice find coming out of Colorado and at 25-years-old still has a lot of runway to make a solid contribution to a team.
The Seahawks are currently in a period of transition after Pete Carroll’s decision to retire from coaching following a 9-8 season in 2023.
Ex-Ravens coordinator Mike Macdonald takes over for the Super Bowl winning head coach and will look to build off of the success Carroll had maintained for 14 years.
Shenault will slot in behind DK Metcalf and veteran Tyler Lockett on Seattle’s depth chart.
