Despite rumors that Geno Smith could be on a new team for next season, he’s going to be staying put.
Per Jordan Schultz, the Seattle Seahawks have informed Smith that he will be on the roster for the 2024 season on his current contract.
This will pave the way for Smith to be the Seahawks’ starting quarterback for a third straight season.
Even though he didn’t lead them to a playoff berth in 2023, he still had a good season. He completed 64.7% of his passes for 3,624 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
In 2022, he completed 69.8% of his passes for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions as the Seahawks made the playoffs when nobody expected them to. He was able to show everyone that he still had quite a bit left in the tank.
He’ll now look to keep the good times rolling for the upcoming season as the Seahawks try to make the playoffs for the second time in three seasons.
This will be Smith’s fifth season as a member of the Seahawks since he started his tenure as Russell Wilson’s backup before he got dealt to the Denver Broncos.
