News of Carroll’s interest in the Chicago Bears job was reported on Christmas, the day before the Seahawks’ 6-3 barnburner over the Bears. He completed his Bears interview on Thursday, firmly putting himself in the mix for a comeback at 73 years old.
At the time of his ousting from his front office and head coaching positions, Carroll still had a year left on his contract, which was spent serving in an advisory role. With his contract now complete, Carroll is free to interview for any job without the Seahawks granting permission.
The Raiders just fired general manager Tom Telesco in addition to canning head coach Antonio Pierce, so between those two and others they’ve fired recently, they might as well be paying half of America to not coach or run their franchise.
If by any chance the Raiders hired Carroll, then the dormant rivalry with Jim Harbaugh would be back on. This may be the number one reason to hope for Carroll to get the Raiders job.
