The Seattle Seahawks have been extremely patient in their head coaching search and are now one of only two NFL teams that haven’t hired one yet. While they could simply be waiting for after the Super Bowl to hire an assistant from the Chiefs or 49ers, there seems to be a dark horse candidate emerging.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka could be “a legitimate option” for Seattle. Per the report they have interviewed him twice already while Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is also a top option.
“One name to watch in Seattle who I’m told is a person of interest there is Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as a name to watch as a potential candidate for the Seattle job if it’s not Mike Macdonald,” Condotta wrote.
Kafka is a former NFL quarterback who rose to prominence as an assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs between 2017 and 2021. He joined the Giants as offensive coordinator under Brian Daboll in 2022 and quickly became a national sensation for resurrecting the career of quarterback Daniel Jones.
Here was Graziano’s full quote on this: “One name to watch in Seattle who I’m told is a person of interest there is Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as a name to watch as a potential candidate for the Seattle job if it’s not Mike Macdonald.”

At first it seemed like the Seattle Seahawks would be among the fastest teams to hire their replacement and bring back former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their new head coach.
But as the process has gone on it has appeared that the Seahawks are going to look for with someone who likely hasn’t been a head coach before.
Will Mike Kafka be the guy for Seattle?
