With his father being “reassigned” from the sidelines, Seattle Seahawks offensive assistant Nathan Carroll is heading to greener pastures.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Carroll has been hired by the Carolina Panthers as their new passing game coordinator. The move reunites Carroll with head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan, two former members of the Seahawks who Carroll previously worked with.
“The #Panthers hired Nathan Carroll, the son of Pete Carroll, as their pass game coordinator. A reunion with Dave Canales and Dan Morgan from their Seattle days,” Pelissero wrote.
Carroll was hired as a staffer in 2010 after graduating from USC. Within a year, he was moved to the coaching staff and began rising in the ranks as an assistant.
Carroll’s 13 years on the sidelines includes roles as defensive assistant, offensive assistant, assistant wide receivers coach, wide receivers coach and most recently senior offensive assistant.
The Seahawks have purged their entire offensive coaching staff from Carroll’s tenure with the team. The only assistant returning to join Mike Macdonald’s staff is defensive backs coach Karl Scott.
Thus far, Seattle have filled only six assistant roles on their staff. They have Leslie Frazier as their assistant head coach, Ryan Grubb as their offensive coordinator and Aden Durde as their defensive coordinator.
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers have now filled all of their vacancies on staff, headed by Brad Idzik as offensive coordinator, Elijah Evero as defensive coordinator and Harold Goodwin as their assistant head coach.
Nathan Carroll is joining a solid-looking staff.
