Shaun Alexander and Richard Sherman will be up on the podium announcing the Seahawks’ Round 2-3 draft choices.
A recent tradition in the NFL Draft is to have a mixture of current and former players announce picks during Rounds 2-3 on Day 2. Not every former player is/was Hall of Fame caliber but they usually have deep ties with their organization. For the Seattle Seahawks, I’d say their players are all-time greats.
Shaun Alexander, Seattle’s only MVP winner in franchise history, and Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman, the superstar cornerback from the Legion of Boom secondary, will be the Seahawks’ representatives this year. Alexander was drafted in the first round back in 2000 and will be part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of that draft class. Sherman was a fifth-round pick in 2011 and went from a reserve behind Marcus Trufant to one of the premier shutdown corners of his era.
Seattle currently has picks No. 50, 52, 82, and 92 on Friday, which means we should have ample opportunity to see Shaun and Richard throughout the evening. Day 2 of the NFL Draft begins at 4 pm PT on Friday, Apr. 25.
Alexander and Sherman aren’t the only ex-Seahawks scheduled to announce draft picks. Former Seahawks Pro Bowl linebacker Julian Peterson will announce San Francisco 49ers selections, while Seahawks draft pick turned star Packers running back Ahman Green will be among the many Green Bay legends helping Roger Goodell officially open the 2025 NFL Draft.
