It’s last rites for the Seahawks playoff hopes.
The Sunday morning and afternoon window has come and gone, and the Seattle Seahawks’ strength of victory tiebreaker hopes are all but gone.
Needing help from the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, and the Tua Tagovailoa-less Miami Dolphins in order to stave off mathematical elimination from the playoffs, the Seahawks only got a win from the Dolphins, who won against the Cleveland Browns. The Jets were blown out by the Buffalo Bills, while the Packers’ late rally came up just short against the Minnesota Vikings.
What does this mean for the Seattle Seahawks’ playoff chances?
The Seahawks must have wins from the Atlanta Falcons over the Washington Commanders (Sunday night) and the Detroit Lions over the San Francisco 49ers (Monday night) to avoid Week 17 elimination. If one of Atlanta or Detroit loses or ties, that’s a wrap on the season.
This is, of course, delaying the inevitable. If they stay alive into Week 18, they need to beat the Los Angeles Rams next weekend and also have a slew of other results (including the Chicago Bears over Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots over Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions over Minnesota Vikings, and several others) to break their way.
So do you want to have the suffering end now or later? It’s not like you have a say in this.
