You love to see it.
One of the most awesome parts of the NFL Draft is when players get that call from the front office that they’ve been drafted. With more prospective first-round picks opting to stay at home with friends and family instead of chill in the green room at the draft site, we get more wholesome moments to watch.
For North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel, he’s got the distinction of being the only player from a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) taken in Round 1 of this year’s class. He’s also the first FCS first-rounder drafted by the Seattle Seahawks since Terry Taylor way back in 1984.
Here’s the video of Zabel with his loved ones watching his NFL dream come true.

The video is disabled for outside embedding, but the Seahawks’ side of this can be seen on YouTube. Scouting coordinator Kirk Parrish calling Zabel first before handing the phone over to John Schneider, who handed it over to coach Mike Macdonald. No tears shed by Grey. Just an eagerness to ball.
And if you don’t think Seahawks fans aren’t excited about Zabel, who has the positional versatility to play across the line but is already listed as a guard by Seattle, go watch this reaction from the Seahawks’ official draft party.

Welcome to Seattle, Grey! I think he’ll be a fan favorite pretty quickly.
An all-time answer from Grey Zabel on our conference call just now. Asked what he’s about to do now that the Seahawks have taken him 18th overall, he said: “Man, I’m probably gonna start diving into these Busch Lights.”
