A Metcalf has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
No, it’s not Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf, but rather his father, Terrence.
On Wednesday, Terrence Metcalf was named as part of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class. Metcalf was an offensive lineman for Ole Miss from 1998-2001, earning All-American honors in his senior season. He was then drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2002, playing seven seasons on Chicago’s offensive line and reaching Super Bowl XLI in the 2006 season.
Also in this year’s College Hall of Fame class is former Seahawks linebacker Darrin Smith. Smith won two national championships with the University of Miami (FL) in 1989 and 1991, and was twice named as a first-team All-American (1991, 1992).
After five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, Smith signed with Seattle for the 1998 season. The signing brought Smith together with Dennis Erickson, then the Seahawks’ head coach and Smith’s head coach while at Miami.
Erickson was fired after the season, but Smith stayed on for 1999 as Seattle advanced to the postseason for the first time in 11 years. Smith’s Seahawks tenure ended with 168 tackles and six sacks over 28 games.
Congratulations to Terrence Metcalf and Darrin Smith!
