It’s an NFC Championship Game rematch, but there’s no trip to the big game on the line this time around when the Lions and 49ers face off at Levi’s Stadium.
The time for the final regular season installment of Monday Night Football has arrived, and Week 17 gives fans a matchup between the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers.
The matchup is two teams moving in opposite directions. The San Francisco 49ers have lost two Super Bowls to the Kansas City Chiefs in the past five years, but this season watched their dominance of the NFC West and the NFC in general take a hit from holdouts, injuries and off field issues. Meanwhile, the upstart young Detroit Lions under head coach Dan Campbell will be in position to play for the top seed in the NFC when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, potentially giving them an inside track on losing a Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in February.
The Lions enter this game as 3.5 point favorites with the over/under at 50.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook. That line seems very friendly to the 49ers, as the Lions bring the number one scoring offense and the number seven scoring defense to the table for this game. The firepower of Detroit under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will simply be too much for the Niners defense to handle, as the Lions easily win this one by double digits, putting enough points on the board for the over to hit.
Fans can tune in at 8:15 ET/5:15 PT on ESPN, ABC or stream the game on ESPN+.
