Name the players you’d rather not see in a Seahawks uniform when the NFL Draft begins in two weeks in Green Bay.
We’ve got two weeks to go before the Seattle Seahawks are on the clock at the 2025 NFL Draft. At the moment, Seattle is set for many trips to the podium, with 10 total picks and half of them in the top 100.
Over the past couple of years we’ve done open threads asking Field Gulls readers about specific players they do NOT want to see drafted by the Seahawks. It’s a hell of a lot easier to fantasize about players you want in a Seahawks uniform—maybe a market inefficiency is coming up with a nightmare mock draft—so this discussion is all about players you don’t want John Schneider to even pick up the phone to call.
Just like last year, the Seahawks are in the middle of the first round after narrowly missing the playoffs. We can safely rule out the likes of Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter from being anywhere in the same zip code as the Seahawks when they’re on the clock at No. 18 (barring some incredible trade up).
Going through our 2024 thread, I may have regrets about not wanting Bo Nix but also Bo Nix under Ryan Grubb might have led to the worst rookie season in NFL history. So far he’s proving me wrong in Denver. Chop Robinson also had a solid rookie season but I didn’t have any regrets about the Seahawks not taking him. Other than one comment saying “no DT at 16” no one explicitly said not to pick Byron Murphy II.
I don’t really hold super strong opinions about most of the top-end of this class. Having signed Sam Darnold, drafting Tyler Shough early would be bad process to me given he’s going to be 26 years old with a deep injury history and only one full season of college productivity. I don’t dislike Shough as a prospect but any team who takes him basically should be starting him within two seasons, otherwise you’ve effectively done the Brandon Weeden pick all over again. Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris doesn’t really do much for me and neither does TCU’s Savion Williams. Tyler Booker could still be a very talented NFL guard but if he’s not a schematic fit for the Seahawks then I don’t want to have schematic mismatches and disaster lurking off of it.
No one on defense is “must avoid” for me outside of being a draft reach. I’m not overly enthused watching Mykel Williams and I don’t see James Pearce Jr as a particularly strong pass rusher at the next level.
There’s no point in doing a poll because it’s completely impractical. This is an open-ended discussion entirely because there will be too many different responses for a percentage breakdown to be meaningful. It’s effectively implied that “must avoid” players are top prospects and not Day 3 picks, so narrow your focus to projected first-, second-, and even third-round prospects. If you’re freaking out over a sixth- or seventh-round pick… I mean you do you.
Your reasoning for not wanting the Seahawks to draft certain players is up to you (unless it’s a direct personal attack, in which case think twice before submitting that comment).
