Richard Sherman sounded off on the Seattle Seahawks organization and fans on social media.
A fan called Sherman “the biggest traitor in Seahawks history.” When another fan argued that the former cornerback still deserves a spot in the team’s Ring of Honor, Sherman responded that he “couldn’t care less.”
“Yep,” Sherman said in a separate tweet. “Tired of ungrateful Seattle fans.”

Sherman replied to another fan who asked how his relationship with the team and fanbase deteriorated over the years.
“Hate from ungrateful fans,” Sherman answered. “Lack of respect from an organization I gave everything to.”

Sherman elaborated on his feelings toward the franchise. After seven seasons in Seattle, the Seahawks cut the three-time All-Pro in 2018. He was recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered the previous season.
“Cutting someone before they are healthy makes it hard to find a job,” Sherman wrote. “Few teams are willing to sign a player fresh off of an Achilles that hasn’t shown he can come back from it. If I was healthy there would have been a lot more peace. What they did was not how you treat someone who has done what I had for that franchise.”

Sherman spent the next three years with the San Francisco 49ers. Joining Seattle’s NFC West rival is likely the source of animosity from Seahawks fans.
Although his performance noticeably waned, Sherman finished the 2020 season before he and the 49ers parted ways. He claimed there would “would be no bad blood” with the Seahawks if they took the same course of action, but he likened releasing a player rehabbing an injury to “leaving someone for dead.”
“EXACTLY why I have so much love for the 49ers. The team that I helped win a SB and gave All-Pro play for my career wasn’t willing to take that risk, but a team I had done nothing but torment was willing to,” Sherman told a fan. “Crazy to think about.”
Sherman’s relationship with Seattle may require some significant mending before they can bury the hatchet and reunite for a Ring of Honor induction.
