The Seahawks’ first-round pick was ruled out with a back injury.
The Seattle Seahawks opted to play their starters in their season finale against the Los Angeles Rams, and the defensive side of the ball has taken some hits in the first half.
Rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II was ruled out with a back injury. Murphy II was questionable with that injury and was limited in practice all week, so this is not a surprising development. Better to be cautious with your first-round pick, especially given Seattle will not be in the playoffs this season.
Meanwhile, cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Tre Brown were injured on the same touchdown drive in the 2nd quarter. Woolen suffered a rib injury after he was run over by running back Blake Corum. Brown had his ankle caught up on what was a face mask penalty, so that really was insult to injury.
Woolen is listed as questionable but there hasn’t been any update on Brown. They’ve been replaced by Artie Burns and rookie Nehemiah Pritchett.
Update: Woolen and Brown both did not return. Brown’s injury was actually listed as a knee injury.
