Guess who’s back? Back again? Cody’s back. Tell a friend.
The first wave of free agency has come and gone, as teams threw cap space at players earlier in the week as if it was burning a hole in their pocket. Big guys in the trenches were getting monster contracts left and right, and even many of those who have had difficulty staying healthy during their career.
Now comes the second wave when teams begin to target lower cost players and addressing specific holes on the roster without blowing the budget, and that is exactly what the Seattle Seahawks announced Friday that they had done.

Originally an exclusive rights free agent, the Seahawks opted not to tender Cody White, which made him an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any team. However, after less than 48 hours as a free agent, the 26 year old has resigned with the Hawks.
As was noted in the post on Seattle bringing back Josh Ross, ERFA tenders are not able to be modified, so it’s likely that the two sides signed a deal that had either split salary or incentive clauses or something else. Or maybe White just wanted written reassurance from the team that they won’t apply the franchise tag next offseason. Whatever it was, he and the team have agreed to a new contract that will give him a chance to show what he can do during the offseason and training camp, and look to stick around on the roster once again.
