Neiko Thorpe will serve as an assistant for both defense and special teams.
There’s been one adjustment to the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff on the defensive (and special teams) side of the ball.
Former cornerback and special teams standout Neiko Thorpe is returning to a coaching role after previously serving as Seattle’s player engagement/football operations assistant. Thorpe was a coaching intern in 2022 and a defensive assistant in 2023 before Pete Carroll’s departure. In 2025, Thorpe will be a defensive assistant again, as well as a special teams assistant.
A national champion at Auburn back in 2011, Thorpe spent five seasons with the Seahawks from 2016 to 2020, playing predominantly as a special teams gunner but with occasional cornerback snaps when needed.
The only Seahawks defensive assistant thus far to depart this offseason is Nick Perry, who went back to college football to be the defensive backs coach at the University of Arkansas. Perry was a defensive quality control coach in his lone year in Seattle.
Welcome back to the sidelines, Neiko!
