Former Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge is making the jump to the NFL.
On Thursday night, it was reported that Partridge is joining Mike Macdonald’s staff in Seattle. He’ll be the Seahawks’ outside linebackers coach.
Partridge, 43, has never coached in the NFL. For the past nine years, he has coached for Michigan and Ole Miss.
During the 2023 season, Michigan fired Partridge because he “failed to abide by the university directive not to discuss an ongoing NCAA investigation with anyone associated with the Michigan football program or others.”
Partridge denied having any knowledge about Michigan’s sign-stealing scheme. Nonetheless, he was shown the door in November.
“I want to be clear: I had no knowledge whatsoever of any in-person or illegal scouting or illegal sign stealing,” Partridge said in a statement. “Additionally, at no point did I destroy any evidence related to an ongoing investigation.”
Partridge will have a fresh start in Seattle, where he’ll get to coach alongside a former Michigan assistant. Back in 2021, Macdonald was the defensive coordinator for the Wolverines.
The Seahawks are hoping their revamped staff can help them keep pace with the 49ers and Rams in the NFC West.
