With Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer on the verge of leaving to replace Nick Saban at the University of Alabama, the Huskies are going to need a new head coach for their first year in the Big Ten. But in an interesting twist of fate, the ideal candidate might be a short bus ride away.
Ever since the news broke that DeBoer is negotiating to become the next Alabama head coach, there’s been one name on everyone’s mind: Pete Carroll.
Recently dismissed as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Carroll is right in Washington’s backyard and knows a thing or two about being a great college football head coach.
From 2001 to 2009, Carroll was the head coach at USC, during which he went 97-19 with six conference titles, four Rose Bowl wins and a vacated national title from the 2004 season.
Some think the idea would be genius, others think it would be funny, but just about everyone believes it fits:
With Washington now open? Does Pete Carroll stay in his house and go back to college??

With the college football season over and most of the coaching carousel long since ended, Washington won’t exactly have a ton of elite candidates to choose from.
And while it’s been nearly 15 years since Carroll last coached a college football game, he’s still got the energy to keep coaching somewhere.
Will Pete Carroll be the next head coach of the Washington Huskies?
