ESPN’s resident Seattle Seahawks fan Mina Kimes was as gutted as most fans to hear that Pete Carroll will no longer be the team’s head coach. But she’s got some ideas for who can replace him.
Taking to X on Wednesday after news of Carroll’s firing broke, Kimes suggested that Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn would be the ideal fit for the Seahawks. She believes that Quinn and Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon would be “electric” if they worked together.
“I think Seattle should conduct a broad search bc there are so many top tier candidates this cycle, buuuuuuuuuuuut Dan Quinn + Devon Witherspoon would be electric,” Kimes wrote.
Quinn served as head coach of the Falcons from 2015 to 2020, going 43-42 and leading the to the Super Bowl in 2016.
Fans in the comments to Kimes were a bit mixed on whether it would work though:
“we think dan quinn + geno smith is the formula for competing with the niners and rams ?” one user replied.
“No Quinn! Especially with Pete as an advisor – it will be the same old same old!” wrote another.
“It would be malpractice to not conduct a deep search when Belichick, Jim Harbaugh, DQ, and various other big name coordinators (Ben Johnson?) and coaches are looking,” a third wrote.
Do you think Quinn will be the next head coach of the Seahawks?
