2026 might be a different story, however.
The NFL has largely announced the designated home teams for its 2025 International Series. There will be the usual handful of games in London, one game in Germany, plus a debut game in Madrid, Spain. There will be a return to Mexico City next season, as well as a reported game lined up for Dublin, Ireland and a potential return to Brazil.
For international fans of the Seattle Seahawks, there might be anticipation that their favorite team could be coming to a city near them in the near future. Perhaps this will be true in 2026, but it’s very unlikely for 2025.
Who are the confirmed home teams for the International Series?
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets will be home teams in London. I know, I know.
The Miami Dolphins are the confirmed home team for the Madrid game.
The Indianapolis Colts are the confirmed home team for the Berlin game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the reported but not confirmed home team for the Dublin game.
There are no reported home teams for a potential Brazil game or the planned Mexico City game. If you’ve noticed the pattern, it’s only AFC teams getting the home designation since they all have a ninth home game in 2025.
Only the Jaguars have a scheduled London trip every season regardless of the conference rotation.
Who are the Seattle Seahawks scheduled to play of those International Series teams?
The Seahawks have road games against the Jaguars and Steelers and a home game against the Colts, so we know they won’t be playing Indy in Berlin.
How many times have the Seahawks played regular season games outside the United States?
Three times in franchise history:
- W 50-17 vs. Buffalo Bills in Toronto (2012)
- W 27-3 vs. Oakland Raiders in London (2018)
- L 21-16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Munich (2022)
The Seahawks were the road team in each instance and are one of only a handful of NFL teams who’ve yet to play a “home” game internationally since this became a regular part of the schedule back in 2007.
When 2026 rolls around and the NFC gets the extra home game again, I believe there will be as great a chance as ever for the Seahawks to go outside of Seattle for a home game for the first time in franchise history. Canada is their designated “international home marketing area,” as well as Germany. I’m not sure BC Place in Vancouver is an ideal venue for a Seahawks international home game given the stadium capacity for football is less than 60,000, but there will be no shortage of options for the Seahawks given the large global fanbase, the NFL’s inevitable international push for regular season football, and Seattle’s “past due” time to host one of these matchups.
