Welcome to the Casual Friday open thread! This is where we take a break from Seattle Seahawks talk and veer off-topic with the rest of the Field Gulls community.
We’ve done a lot of these off-topic threads over the years and for whatever reason I don’t think we’ve ever done one on sports movies. There are so many directions you can go with this topic. We’ve got the NFL Draft coming up in two weeks; how many of you have watched Draft Day? No shortage of football movies with either iteration of The Longest Yard or Remember the Titans or Any Given Sunday or Rudy or, well, you get the idea.
Some of my favorite movies are for sports I otherwise rarely or never watch. Caddyshack is a classic and so is Happy Gilmore! Major League is one of the great comedies ever! Dodgeball is iconic; I love playing dodgeball but wouldn’t watch on TV. I imagine there are a lot of non-boxing fans who have watched at least one Rocky or Creed movie.
The possibilities for options are plentiful and can even include children’s movies like Space Jam and Like Mike and the entire Air Bud series. We’ve got some film connoisseurs in our community so this is your time to shine! Chat away in the comments!
