Seven-year veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Valdes-Scantling, a two-time Super Bowl champion, spent the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills but also played for the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs.

After winning two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling spent the early part of the 2024 season fighting for a depth role with the Buffalo Bills. Appearing in six games, the wideout recorded just two receptions for 26 yards on nine targets before the team cut him. This wasn’t the end of the road for him, as he spent the back half of the season with the New Orleans Saints. Filling in for the injured Rashid Shaheed, Valdes-Scantling came to life and recorded 17 receptions for 385 yards and four touchdowns during his eight games with the club.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Selected by the Green Bay Packers, the South Florida product immediately developed a rapport with Aaron Rodgers. Appearing in all 16 games while making 10 starts, the wide receiver finished his rookie season with 38 receptions for 581 yards and two touchdowns. The Packers themselves missed the playoffs and fired head coach Mike McCarthy midway through the season.
Green Bay brought in Matt LaFleur in 2019 but Valdes-Scantling remained in his specialized role. Following a modest second season, the former fifth-round pick led the league in yards per reception in Aaron Rodgers’ MVP 2020. Unfortuantely, despite the successful connection, the Packers lost the NFC Championship Game to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After another strong season, Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played out two of those years with the team, finishing his Chiefs tenure with 63 receptions for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns on 123 targets. With his help, the team won consecutive Super Bowls during his two seasons with the club.
