The Steelers are locked into second place in the AFC North, which means they’ll be hosting the Seahawks next season.
As expected, the Baltimore Ravens defeated what’s left of the Cleveland Browns to clinch another AFC North title. That result has implications for the Seattle Seahawks’ 2025 schedule.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are locked into second place in the division, which means that they’ll be playing the Seahawks next season. All NFC West teams will be on the road against AFC North squads, so unless this is an International Series game, the Seahawks will be traveling to Pittsburgh for the first time since 2021.
Of course, the main storyline (potentially) is the Seahawks potentially getting to face former quarterback Russell Wilson for the second time since he was traded in 2022. Seattle won 17-16 in Wilson’s Denver Broncos debut, and obviously we know how Wilson’s tenure in Denver went.
It’s been a much better situation for Wilson with the Steelers, who are once again in the playoffs. Wilson is 6-4 as Pittsburgh’s starter and already thrown more touchdowns in 10 starts (15) than the entire Steelers quarterback room has mustered in either of the last two seasons.
Despite the recent losing skid that cost them the division, the expectation is that the Steelers want to retain Wilson heading into next season, although in this instance he’d be making a fair bit more than the league minimum.
With a road game against the Washington Commanders also locked in as of last week, Seattle’s final undetermined opponent for 2025 will be decided on Sunday night, when the Minnesota Vikings play the Detroit Lions for the NFC North title and the No. 1 seed. Whichever team loses will be at Lumen Field next season. In the unlikely event of a tie, the Vikings will be back in Seattle for 2025.
