Will Dan Quinn and Bobby Wagner lead the Commanders to their first playoff win in 20 years?
Four playoff games, zero fourth quarter lead changes. Maybe the Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers give us some drama.
The Commanders have been the NFL’s best in terms of dramatic endings, including the overtime winner against the Atlanta Falcons to officially eliminate the Seattle Seahawks from playoff contention, as well as the Hail Mary to beat the Chicago Bears. Jayden Daniels is the clear favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, and he’s given this franchise renewed hope under a new coach and new ownership. Their defense is not very good but that’s all the more reason they’re exciting to watch. And why wouldn’t you want to watch Bobby Wagner make one more run at the Super Bowl?
The Buccaneers have quietly been one of the NFL’s best offenses. I will shamelessly plug my SB Nation column about their offense under first-year coordinator Liam Coen. Baker Mayfield threw 41 touchdown passes to offset his league-leading 16 interceptions, and rookie receiver Jalen McMillan has caught seven touchdowns over the last five weeks. Their defense… anyway, their offense is great.
Washington’s last playoff win was in the 2005 season against… the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will history repeat itself?
