The Seahawks continued stockpiling young, athletic linemen with the addition of Grey Zabel in the first round on Day 1 of the draft.
The first day of the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Seattle Seahawks made fans happy by addressing the biggest weakness on the roster, the interior of the offensive line.
The selection of Grey Zabel of North Dakota State adds competition to the interior for new line coach John Benton, while adding upside potential for the future. Zabel joins a group of athletic, young linemen, and the competition in the interior of the line will be very interesting to watch through training camp and into the regular season.
Announced as a guard, Zabel is one of the most athletic guard prospects this century, as measured by the Relative Athletic Score (RAS) metric.

•Grey Zabel scored the third best vertical ever by a linemen at the combine at 36.50”.
•Also he scored a 9.90 RAS out of a possible 10.00. That ranked Zabel 18th out of 1,730 OG from 1987-2025. @GreyZabel @CoachTimNDSU #NDSU #Gobison #ND pic.twitter.com/w41ellRMQm

Right behind Zabel, Anthony Bradford’s pre-draft testing worked out to a RAS of 9.80.
Anthony Bradford was drafted with pick 108 of round 4 in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 9.80 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 30 out of 1420 OG from 1987 to 2023.https://t.co/45dbmqDCw7 pic.twitter.com/AEMAba6Xel

Just below Bradford in the 2023 draft class, free agent signing Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu posted a RAS of 9.53 coming out of Oregon.

Jalen Sundell, a college teammate of Zabel, skipped testing at the 2024 NFL Combine while still recovering from a knee injury suffered in late 2023, but tested well enough at his Pro Day to post a 9.35 RAS.
Jalen Sundell is a OC prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.35 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 41 out of 619 OC from 1987 to 2024. https://t.co/Nr2wlotSvV pic.twitter.com/IdJyfJGGIP

Right behind Sundell is another Seahawk from a small school, Michael Jerrell. Yes, Jerrell played tackle as a rookie, and the team continues to list him as a tackle. However, for thoroughness and the off chance he gets thrown into the competition on the interior, here is how Jerrell’s RAS compares to the other interior linemen on the roster.
Michael Jerrell is a OG prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.27 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 112 out of 1523 OG from 1987 to 2024.https://t.co/mAUkexyqtC pic.twitter.com/vtDOaAGC7d

Continuing on is 2024 third round pick Christian Haynes, whose results equate to a 9.10 RAS, though with the caveat that Haynes opted out of agility testing.
Christian Haynes was drafted in round 3 pick 81 in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.10 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 144 out of 1583 OG from 1987 to 2024. https://t.co/T1AOTj93fw pic.twitter.com/ByzqWwDnvy

Next is recent free agent acquisition Josh Jones, who the Seahawks list at both guard and tackle on the roster, meaning he’s being included in this review. Jones performance in Indianapolis ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft gave him a RAS of 8.97, though with the same caveat as Haynes as they both opted out of agility testing.

Closing out the linemen on the roster who tested is center Olu Oluwatimi, who has started nine games for Seattle over the past two years.
Olusegun Oluwatimi is a OC prospect in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 7.85 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 125 out of 578 OC from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/nZ8t3eIGla pic.twitter.com/JseW8id3Bq

And, lastly, not because of his athleticism, but because he opted not to participate in most tests at either the combine or at his Pro Day, Sataoa Laumea does not have a RAS score.

In short, the Seahawks have a whole lot of high end athletes who will be competing on the interior of the offensive line once training camp opens during the summer.
